Lava-Liner Ltd. Industries’ technology has more than a 15-year history in demanding
coatings applications like liquid containment and cooling towers. Lava-Liner
Ltd.
became a corporation in 1995 after acquiring the proprietary know-how for
manufacturing asphalt extended urethanes. During the preceding six years, the
product had been produced by Ultra Membrane International, Inc. The basic
formula was then improved by Lava-Liner Ltd. resulting in a tougher, more resilient
material sold directly to the DIY retail market. In 1998, the technology was
extended to make a commercial grade high build material, ULTRA-FLEX 5000, for
coating cables (including the Hinan suspension bridge in Pu Yang, China) as well
as a derivative material for roofing.
In 1999, Lava-Liner Ltd. developed a white acrylic-based product as a top coat (for
the black ULTRA-FLEX 5000) and as a private label elastomeric coating (Insultec)
for the Arizona contracting company of Brimhall-Palmer. Subsequently, the
formula was improved to take advantage of new urethane latex technology, renamed
ULTRA RAY-FLEX, and sold by Lava-Liner Ltd. as an addition to its coatings product
line.
In 2000, Lava-Liner Ltd. made a strategic decision to manufacture only for private
label customers and pre-qualified contractors and wholesale customers.
Lava-Liner Ltd. shifted its internal focus to research and development in order to
expand its product offerings. This R&D effort resulted in several new coatings
and specialized surface preparations that enhance the performance of current
products and serve new markets as stand-alone products. The results of this R&D
program are: ULTRA-FLEX 5000 FR, ULTRA-FLEX RCI, ULTRA-FLEX AP-RCI, ULTRA-FLEX
CWG, and ULTRA-FLEX EP-990. In addition, Lava-Liner Ltd. worked with GRACO‘s
international pump division in Minneapolis to test and prove the capabilities of
their new Xtreme plural component spray equipment for application of ULTRA-FLEX
5000.
